Refund & Cancellation Policy
This policy explains how Velumic Foundation handles refunds and cancellations for donations made through this website, once its online donation feature is live.
9 October 2026
Donations are voluntary and generally non-refundable
Because a donation is a voluntary gift to Velumic Foundation's charitable work rather than a payment for goods or services, donations are generally non-refundable once processed.
When a refund will be considered
A refund is considered only to correct a genuine error in the transaction itself — not a change of mind about the gift. We will consider a refund if: the same donation was charged more than once due to a technical error (a duplicate transaction); the amount charged was clearly different from the amount you intended to give, due to a processing error; or the payment was made on your payment method without your authorisation. To request a refund on one of these grounds, contact us using the details on our Contact page as soon as possible, and in any case within 7 days of the transaction, with your payment reference.
Refunds and your 80G tax deduction
Once a donation has been included in our annual Form 10BD statement to the Income Tax Department, it generally cannot be refunded without first correcting that statement — refunding a donation that has already been reported (or that you have already claimed, or intend to claim, an 80G deduction for) creates a mismatch between what was reported and what was actually given. If a refund is approved after a donation has already been reported, we will take the steps needed to correct our filing, and you should not claim — or should amend — an 80G deduction for a donation that has been refunded.
How refunds are processed
Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method used for the donation, through our payment gateway. Processing times depend on your bank or payment provider and are outside our control.
Refunds, recognition and bricks
If a gift is refunded, everything that gift bought in public goes with it:
your entry is removed from the live board;
the amount is removed from the totals shown for each of our three objects;
your Wall of Fame brick, if you bought one, is taken down;
your Founding Donor number is kept, but is shown as "Reserved" rather than given to anybody else. We do this so that nobody else's number changes — other donors have already been told theirs, and may have told other people.
If we cannot publish your message or your brick as written, we will tell you which reason applies and you may change it and send it again at no extra cost. If you would rather not change it, you may ask us to refund that gift. Ask us using the details on our Contact page, within 30 days of being told.
Where a gift has already been included in our annual statement to the Income Tax Department (Form 10BD), the position set out above under "When a refund will be considered" applies: that statement generally has to be corrected first, so a refund may take longer or may not be possible.
Cancellations
A one-time donation cannot be cancelled once payment has been completed — see "When a refund will be considered" above for the situations in which a refund applies instead. If this website offers a recurring donation option in future, this section will be updated to explain how to cancel it.
