Bareilly Gaushala
Cattle that can no longer work or give milk are often left to wander. This project proposes a scientifically run gaushala for 100 adult cattle and 25 calves, with a veterinary clinic, an isolation ward, and biogas and compost made from what the shelter produces.

Where these estimates come from
- Stamp duty and registration in Uttar Pradesh: Housing.com, 2025–26
- Agricultural land asking prices in Bareilly: RealEstateIndia
- Uttar Pradesh support for government-placed cattle: Gaon Connection
- The same, reported by UNI India
Market listings are asking prices, not transactions. Circle rates, real quotations and our chartered accountant's answers replace every assumption here before any figure becomes a target.

What these estimates assume
- Capacity: 100 adult cattle and 25 calves, with about 9.6 m² of covered space and 10.6 m² of open paddock per adult — above the commonly used 3.5 m² and 7 m² per cow.
- Land: a 1.5-acre parcel with road access, which costs much more per acre than a large interior parcel; road access is essential for fodder trucks and a veterinary vehicle (line A1). Agricultural land used for a gaushala may need a land-use declaration under the UP Revenue Code (line A3).
- Construction rates are typical 2025–26 rates for western Uttar Pradesh, shown in each line's basis. Local contractors' quotations replace them.
- Fodder is the largest running cost: green fodder, dry fodder, concentrate and mineral mixture, with a calf counted as half (line I1).
- Not counted as income: Uttar Pradesh pays gaushalas ₹50 per animal per day for destitute cattle placed with them by the government. Whether a privately run gaushala qualifies must be confirmed with the district administration. Biogas, compost and dung sales are not counted either.
Not included
- A cattle ambulance — a separate charter item, the animal trauma centre.
- Buying animals: a gaushala takes in abandoned and retired cattle.
- Expansion beyond 125 animals.
